Not even 5 minutes ago I was looking at Clownshoes to see how well my Husky would fit in the back. My criteria for a fun sports car necessitates room for the dog encase we load up and take off for a weekend of hiking and exploring.

I would suggest a Volvo. V60, V70, V90, XC70, etc. They are fun enough to drive than you would think. I was looking at a S60/V60 if I didn't find a TDI that I liked (luckily, I found it).

How are the inputs? Does the steering communicate? Is there some feel through the pedal? Is it BMWesque or less talkative like a Mercedes?

What, the Volvos ? I didn't get around to test driving them unfortunately. I can say that my long departed '96 Volvo 855T (850 Turbo Wgn) drove like a go-kart when you wanted it to and relaxed when cruising. And with only FWD, it handled snow duties just fine.

I rode up on one of these about a month ago. Money has been tight so I was doing a bit of DoorDash delivery action to bring in a buck or two. Anyway, time is money when you are doing gig driving, so I don’t let the grass grow under my feet or wheels. Well, I’m in a rather tony part of town dropping off some wings or something when I get behind a clownshoe going 25 in a 25 zone. Now, everyone around here knows they give you 5 mph, so 25 means 30 and 35 means 40 etc.
So I’m riding behind Mr. Clownshoe kind of admiring his little ride on a Sunday afternoon, and I think I’m doing an acceptable job of keeping my distance. I’ve certainly done worse, but yeah I’m pushing it a bit. I don’t see why the guy needs to keep it right on 25 when there is absolutely nobody around. Anyway after about a mile of this, we come to a red light and his door opens and out he comes. Now, to his credit, he didn’t approach my car but instead just hollers out at me, “Keep your ASS off of MINE!”. Then he gets back in an toddles on a rather long distance while I continue to follow. (He is going the exact way my delivery is taking me.) I even make a couple turns behind him...as if to follow him but I’m not . Fortunately I do make my delivery address and he goes on.
I really do not tailgate..not like people tailgate me anyway. I’m sorry I made Mr. Clownshoe upset but I really didn’t intend to. He was going really slow and so I closed up my distance to a couple car lengths. He was going less than 25 after all. So that’s my story of the slowest BMW driver I’ve ever run across. He was old and gray, but hell I’m old but not quite as gray. God help me when I start to drive like an old man. Take my keys away.

I find my 2016 V60 surprisingly sharp handling. It actually still has hydraulic power steering FWIW, it’s actually the first car I’ve had so equipped in quite a while.

Interesting. I’ve never given Volvos much consideration, but I may have to try one if given the chance. I always liked the old 240's and 740's, but haven’t paid much attention to the newer ones.

That’s a rarity for a car that modern. I’ll have to give Volvo a shot if I run across one.
